Chiesa di San Domenico pretty barren church, built in 1275 according to the guidelines of Bishop Guido Tarlati. In contrast to the church’s sparse interior, the recently restored 13th-century Crucifix designed by a young Cimabue (left, 1260-65) – particularly interesting for its Byzantine iconography – seems all the more splendid. You can learn more of its history and design by visiting the church’s permanent exhibition: Cimabue ad Arezzo. Il Crocifisso Restaurato (0575-24001, Tues-Sat, 9:30 am-7 pm, Sun and holidays, 9:30-11 am, 12:30-7 pm, Euro 4, con. Euro 3), which traces the work of the artist in Arezzo and the four years it took to restore his work.
